On Friday, the board of Middlesex Mutual voted against the development of a hotel on the empty lot Broad and College streets, adjacent to its corporate headquarters.
Some levelheaded town fathers of Middletown were able to persuade board members that a new hotel, particularly a chain, would drive the home-town developed Inn at Middletown out of business, and that the chain would likely abandon the building in a decade, leaving it for...cheap apartment rentals.
Glad to see someone came to their senses.
