Vote on typewriter factory tabled after noise about developer's reputation
After an endorsement by the Economic Development Committee, the Common Council voted Monday to table a vote on awarding development rights to the former Reminington Rand plant.
UPDATE: The leading developer has responded to complaints lodged against his company.
The former Remington Rand plant started as the Noiseless Typewriter Company, and was shuttered after a historical, contentious and sometimes violent strike. The union was shut out of the plant after striking, and the owners shut the plant rather than give into demands by strikers.
