It appears that the House of Representatives is about to buckle under pressure from the White House and deliver a Protect America Act with some kind of immunity for giant telecom companies which broke the law by spying on American citizens - lots of American citizens - most of who are not connected with terror or terrorism in any way.
Time to make a phone call to your representative.
