Concerts of the Week

Patty Larkin
Music for a Change
Friday October 5, 7:30 PM,
Wilde Auditorium, University of Hartford
West Hartford CT

Patty Larkin is, simply, one of the most musical, entertaining, engaging, talented people on the planet. I guess she's blessed not to have the attention of a Britney, but why the human race seems to fawn and fall over the talentless when we have musicians like Patty in our midst, I'll never understand. Larkin is a terrific songwriter, and one of the best guitarists I've ever witnessed. Need to know more, go tonight.

Melissa Ferrick
The Space, Hamden CT
Saturday October 6

Ferrick is a bundle of intense energy barely contained by her skin. She's funny, outrageous, and outrageously talented. She's no second-string Ani, but a real, unique and riveting performer. And The Space, well, shamefully I haven't been there yet, but they are doing amazing things down there in Hamden. Check out the lineup at their website.
