According to the New York Times, Randy Newman writes folk music. He'd probably be a bit surprised but his Louisiana 1927 has become a folk anthem for all New Orleans, and for the people who love it. He'll be singing it Thursday at the second weekend of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
