It's damned scary. As world ecomonic leaders met in Washington yesterday, the topic at the center of most discussions was famine, starvation and fod riots. From Haiti to Asia, the cost of staples like rice, beans and flour have double in the course of weeks. It's affecting us too, and people are already beginning to hurt. So when I see the TV commercials where dog and cat food is designed to be more aesthetically pleasing to our pets, it drives me crazy.
