Wee, sleeket, cowran, tim'rous beastie...

Proof of a poem's greatness is it's universality. How it can touch many people, over a long period of time. We all know Burn's line, "The best laid plans of mice and men..." but few of us know it actually came from Burns, or was a meditation on fear and worry.

In a time when politicians are selling us terror daily so they can sell us their wars, and strip us of civil liberties, it's a good time to reflect on To A Mouse.

Word came out yesterday that the JFK airport terror plot would have been practically impossible to implement, that it's ringleader was often homeless, and that one of the other members of the cell was a drug addict, not to mention that the informer was a convicted felon.

And to see that everyone is not fooled by a manipulative executive branch, a faltering FBI, or a milquetoast press.
