Just when you thought he couldn't get any creepier

Creepy Joe™ Lieberman is crossing the aisle again.

This time, Mr. Non-partisan is offering up a non-binding Senate resolution to declare the surge, a success.

Less excitable men would wait to be sure the success of the surge sticks. Not Lieberman. He's out ahead of the wave. Look at his support for John McCain, when others had written McCain off. Of course, when you're surfing ahead of the wave, it often crashes down upon you.

Why would Lieberman propose such a resolution. A resolution which Republicans would clamor to embrace. A resolution which would stick in the craw of spineless Democrats who will vote "yes" knowing that a positive or negative vote will call down the harpies of conservatism upon their heads, but a "yes" vote will allow them to say they support the troops.

Lieberman isn't finished punishing the Democrats who he perceives as treating him so badly. You know, the Democrats who have allowed him to keep his chairmanship and seniority even after he works with every ounce of energy to denigrate them. Those Democrats. The ones who aren't like the Democrats that married dear old dad.

Tell me how well the surge is working?

The Pentagon PR machine and the administrative scriptwriters can say it as many times as they want, but the vaunted surge seems to have hit a snag.

20,000 more reasons to mistrust the Pentagon

There is some sense, from independent sources, that violence is down in Iraq. But the underlying questions as to why are still not completely answered. The Washington Post talks about returnees, ghost towns, residual fears and the lack of promise for the future.

So, I'm willing to accept that violence has eased, and happy to do so, but less willing to believe it's because the surge worked.

The administration and the Pentagon would have us believe that the surge was the answer. But the Pentagon is also underestimating war wounded.

Skepticism prevails.

Which works best, the surge or the twenty-three skidoo

The Bush administration is offering incontrovertible evidence that the surge is working. Okay, maybe it's controvertible. Less violence than in the summer of 2005, which at the time, was the most violent in two years, which was when we were making real progress, but not the kind of progress we could have been making if, well, if the administration had done anything at all that was right.

Now evidence that maybe just up and leaving would really be the better answer. Seems to have worked for the British.

Petraeus, Petraeus, Petraeus, not Petraeus

After months of asking us all to be patient and to give General Petraeus and the surge a chance, it seems as if the White House is unwilling to have General Petraeus speak for himself.

Could it be that the White House is disturbed by the fact that Petraeus understands the separation of powers better than they do?

At this point, if you believe anything the White House says you might not want to open one of those emails from Nigeria promising you a fee for transferring millions in funds from an African bank account.

November is the new September. Can April be far off?

I used to live a few miles from the Oscar Meyer plant in Madison Wisconsin, and they haven't produced as much bologna as this administration.

Time to kick them out.
