Creepy Joe™ and the craven empty Democratic leaders

Just when you thought he couldn't get any creepier

Creepy Joe™ Lieberman is crossing the aisle again.

This time, Mr. Non-partisan is offering up a non-binding Senate resolution to declare the surge, a success.

Less excitable men would wait to be sure the success of the surge sticks. Not Lieberman. He's out ahead of the wave. Look at his support for John McCain, when others had written McCain off. Of course, when you're surfing ahead of the wave, it often crashes down upon you.

Why would Lieberman propose such a resolution. A resolution which Republicans would clamor to embrace. A resolution which would stick in the craw of spineless Democrats who will vote "yes" knowing that a positive or negative vote will call down the harpies of conservatism upon their heads, but a "yes" vote will allow them to say they support the troops.

Lieberman isn't finished punishing the Democrats who he perceives as treating him so badly. You know, the Democrats who have allowed him to keep his chairmanship and seniority even after he works with every ounce of energy to denigrate them. Those Democrats. The ones who aren't like the Democrats that married dear old dad.

43,000 fans of the Constitution can't be wrong

Creepy Joe™ Lieberman got a gift from Brave New Films - a petition, signed by 43,000 Americans, and delivered to the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee, asking the committee to strip Lieberman of his committee chairmanships, and his seniority.

Lieberman's office, surprisingly, called it "petty partisanship." That would be the kind of petty partisanship in which you would support a Republican candidate for president because you are pissed-off at your own former party?

Torture 'R' Us

So it was only mock horror that Nancy Pelosi, Jay Rockefeller and other Dems displayed at the thought that the United States was engaged in an interrogation technique invented, or perhaps perfected by the Nazis.

Yes, the Speaker of the House not only knew about waterboarding, she tacitly approved it by never objecting to it.

Of course anyone can change their mind about a horrible practice which convinces the subject of the torture to believe he is drowning, because in fact he is drowning. But that would mean you would have to admit that initially you thought it was okay to use drowning as an interrogation technique.

What have you got to say for yourself Ms. Speaker?

Republicans wish upon a star

Middletown Republicans are hoping to end the decades-long Democratic control of the Common Council.

Democrats don't seem to be taking the threat seriously, not even offering a mayoral candidate to run against the popular Sebastian Giuliano.

Hard to imagine that most Democrats won't just vote the ticket, but the Republicans are offering some well-known and well-liked candidates, and the Democrats are losing two of it's popular council members (the only women currently on the council).

And this is why it pisses me off when someone blames Ralph Nader

The spineless Democrats in congress seem poised, once again, to roll back our liberties in the fear that they will be labelled "soft."

What irony, eh?

They are so afraid of the Republican party that they are nearly catatonic. They refuse to do the work we elected them to do. They refuse to understand that patriotism is more than political expedience. They are as despicable as those they supposedly oppose.

We need a real third party. And I'll vote for Ralph Nader again, and again, rather than give my vote to one of these cowardly weasels.

And that's Representative Jellyfish over there

There was some solace in the fact that Chris Dodd not only did not vote on the Senate resolution condemning MoveOn's "Petraeus/Betray Us" ad. Outmaneuvered by the Republican minority again.

But now the House passed a similar resolution, which is disgusting in it's absolute kowtowing to the administration and the Pentagon, and all of our anti-war, liberal, Democratic representatives voted in favor of it. Yes, Delauro, Courtney, Larson and Murphy.

Time to hit the phones and ask, "WTF!"

Appealing to the lizard in all of us

If it's one thing I know after years of producing video for people who are trying to raise money for one cause or another.

You can fill these videos with hundreds of facts, and get no response. You need to touch the heart. You need to get an emotional response. You need to touch the lizard brain. It's as easy as telling a good story.

Now it's something progressive politicians need to realize. Being logical, cerebral, reasonable ain't enough.

Dick Polman, a former Connecticut columnist, and now a nationally syndicated opinion writer thinks the same is true.

Quit being such thoughtful wimps, and go for the gut punch.
