Reading the Village Voice on the way back home from the city on Monday, I realized how much I miss reading the Village Voice. I picked up the habit back in the seventies when the Voice was printed in New Britain at the Herald's printing plant.
Anyway, it was the issue with the annual Pazz and Jop poll, and the band Vampire Weekend was mentioned glowingly.
The description, prep-school smart pop punks with African rhythms sounded intriguing. Maybe the next Talking Heads?
