A man of his word

Who knew that language mangler George Bush was actually is such control of his words.

At the beginning of the Valerie Plame scandal, he promised this:
"If the person has violated the law, the person will be taken care of."

Damned, if he wasn't telling the truth about folks like Scooter Libby.

Let's connect the dots

If Scooter Libby hadn't helped to discredit Joe Wilson by outing Valerie Plame, then George Bush might not have been able to make his case about yellow cake uranium, allowing him to convince the world, and particularly Congress that we should go to war, and this guy wouldn't have had to go to jail.

We are about to hear a lot of stories about folks in jail as a result of Scooter's evil manipulations as ordered by Dick Cheney.

Let's hope Bush gets the invite

I'm a bit late on this. I promised I'd post it today. Keith Olbermann has all the courage his colleagues have relinquished. Pass this to anyone who might give a damn.

It dropeth as the gentle rain from heaven...on my friends

Shakespeare's Portia claimed: "The quality of mercy is not strained..."

Perhaps George W once read The Merchant of Venice, or maybe, once, he at least adjusted some venetian blinds.

Whatever the case, he seems to take Portia's words to heart. Issuing mercy to his good friend, Scooter Libby, despite the fact that he has said, "I respect the jury's decision," it's unlikely that our plucky president is suddenly going to respect the rule of law now. And so, he has shown mercy, because, as Portia says: "It blesseth him that gives and him that takes."

Unfortunately, this mercy did not seem to be available to the 131 prisoners Bush signed execution orders for when he was Governor of Texas.

He's likely making up for lost time. That makes 130 pardons for friends, political associates, donors, cronies...now, where did I put Jack Abramoff's number?

A man's life is at stake

A few days ago I had another of those, "almost drove off the road" moments when I heard WTIC's official local chickenhawk Jim Vicevich fretting over Scooter Libby's sentence and declaring, "A man's life is at stake."

Why did this not occur to any of these conservative scriptreaders when the thought of "a man's life being at risk" might have been enough to cause second thoughts about invading Iraq.

Bill Moyers has an appropriate answer, and he tips his hat to the Hartford Courant's editorial board, who after all endorsed George Bush twice, and Joe Lieberman frequently.

Pope-a-dope

What didn't come out in reports:

- the Pope's aspirations to lead Catholicism back to the 11th century
- the President's aspirations to bomb Iran back to the 11th century
- the Pope's desire to fast-track the beatification of a French nun
- the President's desire to fast-track the beatification of Scooter Libby
