There's something happening here.
Iranians are in the streets defying their lunatic president and worthless ayatollahs. And, of all things, Twitter seems to have gotten them there.

The war we can't admit we've lost

The war on drugs, particularly the war on marijuana, has drained our country's treasury, filled our prisons and has made criminals out of those who are no more threatening, maybe less threatening, than your average Bud drinker.
New studies show that the country could save a bundle by opting out of this futile war. Other studies indicate that crime rates, particularly murder rates, might plummet, if historical trends hold true.

Truth and consequences

God love his conservative soul, Andrew Sullivan is the latest commentator calling for a truth commission to be established once Barack Obama is in the White House.
This commission, being embraced by Americans across a broad swath of political beliefs, would be assembled to attempt to find the truth about what is already well-documented, that America, and Americans engaged in war crimes (torture, criminal abduction, domestic spying, illegal incarceration) in its "war on terror" during the Bush administration.
Sullivan is correct when he writes: "these people have to be brought to justice if the rule of law is to survive in America. In his constitutional soul, Obama knows this. He also knows, however, the political exigencies of taking over a national security apparatus where continuity and lawful vigilance against terrorism remain vital."
Time will tell whether Obama has the will to clean the blemishes from this dark period in American history.

MC Yogi on hope
MC Yogi has combined hip hop with yoga. It seems to work.
And a British Conservative party, mayor of London, Boris Johnson, finds hope in Obama after a dismal eight years of Bush.
H/T to Andrew Sullivan at the Daily Dish for both.

Lying for Jesus
As Sarah Palin denies emphatically, what has been specifically by investigators in the "troopergate" case, I'm beginning to think, more and more, that she has a Joan of Arc delusion. Appointed by God to do his work, and to take the rest of us into battle with her.

The conservative love affair with Hillary Clinton

Andrew Sullivan has figured out why there is a sudden outpouring of support for Hillary Clinton (often expressed as a vitriolic distasted for Barack Obama) among conservative Republicans like Limbaugh, Buchanan, Scaife and Rove. They want her to win so they can beat her.

Obama's got sophrosyne, and he won't admit how he contracted it

I found this post thanks to enlightened conservative Andrew Sullivan's brilliant blog, The Daily Dish.
It seems like Mark Kleiman has put his finger on exactly what's so appealing about Barack Obama, and it's also what so distinguishes him from most of the leaders we've seen lately.
Sophrosyne. See if you can apply it to a single other candidate.
